We are locally owned and operated by Tomi Hawkins, who has been teaching Drivers Education in Boise for the last 10 years and has trained thousands of our young drivers in Idaho. Tomi's classes are structured to cater to students with a wide variety of learning styles; powerpoint presentations, cooperative learning, class discussions, and guest speakers.She also uses computer virtual programs that extend driver's education beyond the traditional "old school" classroom instruction. These virtual programs offer realistic full-motion graphics and exciting footage filmed from the driver's perspective. Students will be challenged as they interactively face a wide range of risks while navigating different environments.
Tomi's goal is to equip her students with the knowledge and skills necessary to help steer them down a "collision-free" path! Equally important, she treats her students with respect and exhibits patience and encouragement both in the classroom and behind the wheel.

For drivers 17 and older, a driver training course is not required but you must be able to pass a written test and a skills test in order to obtain an Idaho drivers license. If you are interested in receiving just the behind the wheel instruction, you will need to purchase a Driver Training Instruction Permit at the DMV; but you will need to pass the written test first.

I am so glad I chose Hawkins for my daughter's drivers ed. Tomi was incredibly professional but also very understanding and absolutely accommodating. She was able to see that my daughter was not quite ready to get in the car and was so kind and patient with her. Tomi was also super responsive and thorough in communications (something I find hard to come by). She really is the BEST kind of teacher and I cannot recommend Hawkins enough.

Tomi has educated all 3 of our drivers. She is kind, personable, and knowledgeable. Our last driver had the WORST availability due to extra curricular activities, however Tomi was so gracious and made it work. I appreciated that my kiddos received one on one instruction. I HIGHLY recommend her, you won't be disappointed.

Beware! Tomi Hawkins does not comply with CDC recommendations to wear a mask in the vehicle with children. (Which I was unaware of until I picked up my daughter from her first lesson). Of course my daughter wore her mask the whole time. ON TOP OF THAT - My daughter was in tears after an extremely stressful first driving experience with Tomi. She may seem sweet on the phone but DO NOT let your child have a terrible experience like mine did!

Our experience with Tomi has been wonderful. She's been kind and has answered all our questions professionally and thoroughly. It saddens me to see such negative comments after the amazing experience we've had. My son has also mentioned how thorough and amazing his lessons have been and often corrects us with flaws in our driving based off of what he learned from Hawkins. We highly recommend her and have two more kids getting close that will be attending as well.

Hawkins Driver Education is very professional and every graduated student I have talked to who has taken the course gave Tomi awesome credit for her student education/driving instructor skills. Even the conversations over the many years I have known Tomi the parents comments were nothing short of excellent. I know, I sent both my kids through the school and they are the best drivers bar none due to Tomi's extensive knowledge of driver education and the skillful transfer of that knowledge to my kids. Top notch!

Coming from personal experience Tomi's Driver Education Class provided wonderful service and a positive learning environment for me. Her lectures were very informative; whenever I had a question she always had an answer. She was very professional when we would go drive through a neighborhood or drive on the freeway, she stayed calm even when I made a mistake.
I have heard of other stories from other drivers about their experiences going through drivers education and how the instructor didn't meet the students needs. However, comparing it to Tomi's drivers ed. I felt that my needs were meet and beyond. She truly cares about each and every one of her students, I know this is true based on my experience with Tomi.

Tomi was a great driver's ed instructor! She provided a great learning atmosphere in the classroom and spent time working with each student when necessary. During the driving portion of the course, she was calm and informative, which helped me with my nerves each time I got behind the wheel. She was polite, patient, punctual, and very professional. I would absolutely recommend her!

Tomi has been such an incredible driver's ed instructor for my children! She is kind and patient but also really cares about putting safe drivers on the roads. She has a positive, friendly demeanor and helps students feel comfortable behind the wheel.
