Providing excellent service means we make choices. We choose to spend more money on brand new cars, higher pay for instructors, longer employee training, more frequent car washes, better-educated office staff, and so on. These choices aren't always the best way to make a quick dollar, but this is how we built our rock-solid reputation. You can expect West Point Driving School to be in business for a very long time.
Mastery of skills will come during practice and repetition, which usually happens with the family, not with us. This means you finish each lesson well-equipped to make your practice time as productive as possible. A good lesson should be slightly intense, but never overwhelming or frightening.
Our cars are equipped with stability and traction control, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist and brake override technology. In particular, because our cars are driven by inexperienced drivers, we feel that the antilock braking system (ABS) is absolutely essential, to avoid skids and maintain steering control even when the student steps too hard on the brake. We will never train with cars that don't have these technological advances!

The instructor I had for my first lesson was a little weird and had me turning a very specific way. By specific way I mean he instructed me to use a weird hand placement that wasn't natural and insisted I didn't use hand over hand when first learning to drive. I really struggled with this throughout the lesson and didn't make much progress with him.
He then made a slightly rude comment about me not making enough progress. The second instructor I had for my freeway lesson was very nice, but didn't give me much feedback throughout the lesson. The only time I really got good feedback was at the end of the lesson when he was reviewing my progress with my parents. My third lesson was very useless.
The third lesson you are supposed to be preparing for your behind the wheel test. The only preparation the instructor did with me was telling me about the backing up. He specified that the DMV has different variations of routes so he couldn't necessarily take me on the exact route I would take for my driving test. But he didn't really lay out what I would need to do and what I should expect.
I had no idea what mistakes would dock me points because he didn't go over that. I had to ask what mistakes would make me automatically fail and he didn't say much. He also began to talk badly about other driving schools and made accusations about their driving instructors during my lesson which I thought was both inappropriate and unprofessional. Overall, I think the lessons definitely made some impact, but for the price, these lessons weren't worth it and I wouldn't necessarily recommend using this driving school.

I had Brian as my instructor and I was really impressed by his teaching skills and he dealt with me very professionally and calmly even if I made a mistake and gave me tips through out the session on how I could improve more. Before taking classes with them I took one class with Dave Coyne's school but the instructor was very rude and I was literally scared to even ask any question. I felt like I wasted my money never took any class from them after that but thankfully found West Point Driving school. I highly recommend this school.

Great experience here. Had ben as driving instructor. Really cool guy, very informative, patient and a good teacher. Also parents can come along if they want. Excellent experience and customer service, would recommend to anyone. many friends of mine have gone through west point and had a similar experience.

This is an excellent choice for a driving school! The customer service was great and everyone was very friendly. The driving instructor Ben was such a nice guy and took so much time to go over everything with my daughter. He made her feel comfortable and was very patient. He had a lot of knowledge on the actual dmv test and everything he said was correct. My daughter passed her test the first time. I feel he really prepared her well for this and would absolutely recommend this place. Thanks!

This is THE BEST place to learn driving. I have taken a few lessons from them and the instructors are really very good. I learnt from Dan, Mike, Damien, and one more gentleman (cannot recall his name) and all are very exceptional in teaching. They were very polite. They teach you wonderfully and at a pace that you are comfortable with. If you say you want to feel comfortable in changing lanes, or making turns, or parking, or whatever, they will help you learn it and become comfortable.
I have never driven all my 40 years of life and to get behind the wheel at this age was really scary for me. But, the instructors here did an awesome job and have successfully instilled confidence in me. Today, I drive to my work on I-80 --pretty confidently. I have been wanting to write this review for sometime. But, today, I decided to sit down and pen down what I felt about this institution.
I would 100% recommend this driving school to anybody who wants to learn driving. Even the lady in the front office, Ms. Megan, is extremely polite and helpful. Thanks so much!

You see all these previous reviews were from some time ago. West point now i believe only has two instructors Mike and Damien. I originally had Mike and my goodness he is an HORRIBLE instructor. Please don't use West point because chances are you will get Mike. He is an former cop and this was my following experience. -Screams and passively glares at you if you do anything wrong or not to his liking instead of being an respective adult and telling you in a proper manner -Makes you feel very uncomfortable and belittles you for not knowing how to drive when you a new driver -As a new driver you are already anxious and very scared of driving and Mike only adds pressure and does NOT instruct you very well.
Its not that Mike is being hard on the rules or just making you a better driver, the way he treats his students is very degrading. Literally after my first lesson i was crying my eyes out because of such an experience. I seriously did not want to learn how to drive because of my first lesson. With my horrible experience with Mike i called to change my instructor with Damien which was much much more successful, Damien is a very patient and firm which is a great balance.
But still as a business it should be a golden rule to treat your customers with respect and make them feel at ease, I was still disappointed and thought it was ridiculous that i had to change my instructor because Mike was being an ass. Go with a different driving school because chances are Mike will be your instructor. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

I highly recommend West Point Driving school. As a parent I was welcomed and even encouraged to ride along so I knew what my Son needed to work on. Mike, a retired officer was his instructor. Ask for him, he is a great instructor with tons of experience & patience. Another thing I liked about West Point was they were teaching him to drive, not just pass the test.
He also got plenty of freeway time, something other schools charge extra for. Three days after his last session he passed his test on his first try. Thank you Mike and West Point Driving school.
